Medical mafia in Australia to force parents to drug children diagnosed ‘ADHD’

Tuesday, November 29th, 2011

Natural News – 11/20/2011

Australian government is actually considering mandating parents of diagnosed children accept the prescribed drug treatments or else face the wrath of child protective services.

The typical treatment recommendation for children diagnosed with psychiatric or mental health conditions such as bipolar disorder or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) includes a combination of behavior and drug therapies. Such treatments are legally optional, but the Australian government’s National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) is actually considering mandating that parents of diagnosed children accept the prescribed drug treatments or else face the wrath of child protective services.

Australia’s Sky News reports that authorities originally crafted the proposed measure as a guidance for doctors in how to treat children with such conditions, writing in a draft paper that “combined behavoural-pharmacological treatment is most effective” for normalizing child behavior. In the process, these authorities are essentially pushing a draconian form of medical tyranny that will eliminate health freedom of choice, and force parents to take the drug route with their children.

The entire field of psychiatry and its mental health screening process is questionable to begin with, as ADHD, bipolar disorder, and depression are not verifiable medical conditions like heart disease or cancer. There are no legitimate scientific tests to determine without a doubt the presence of these ambiguous “conditions” — and yet the entire psychiatric industry is built on pushing $84 billion worth of pharmaceutical drugs every year as treatment for them (http://www.cchrint.org/psychiatric-…).

Psychiatric drugs cause drastic changes in the cognitive and behavioral profiles of children. Drugs are not necessarily for the better. Most of these drugs also cause severe side effects, including mind-altering hallucinations, and they are typically far more addictive than illicit drugs like marijuana, cocaine, and heroin, all of which are illegal.

But certain government officials, likely influenced by Big Pharma, are continuing to propagate the lie that psychiatric drugs are the only option for these often-fictitious mental disorders. West Australian Labor MP, author, and anti-ADHD medication campaigner Martin Whitely is quoted in News Tonight as saying that ADHD drugs are “the only possible medical interventions” and that parents who refuse to use them “may see their child put in care.”

Earlier this year, a SWAT team raided the Detroit home of Maryanne Godboldo for refusing to medicate her daughter with dangerous psychiatric drugs. These thugs actually kidnapped the young girl, who was eventually released after it was determined that Maryanne had every right to choose her own daughter’s medical care (http://www.naturalnews.com/032089_a…).

Detroit mother Maryanne Godboldo found in neglect for refusing to medicate daughter with psychiatric drugs

Friday, August 12th, 2011

Natural News – August 11, 2011

by Mike Adams

“The court system in Detroit appears to be trying to make an example out of Godboldo by sending a message: “Don’t resist tyranny.” When the state orders you to drug your children, don’t even think about saying no! If you do, armed SWAT teams will raid your house, CPS will kidnap your child, and you will be brought up on felony charges for resisting.

Detroit mom Maryanne Godboldo, who was subjected to an armed SWAT team assault on her home during an attempted kidnapping by Child Protective Services, has been found in neglect today by a Wayne County juvenile court.

The jury of that court was somehow persuaded to believe that Maryanne’s refusal to continue drugging her daughter with Risperdal, a mind-altering psychiatric drug used to “treat” ADHD, equated to parental neglect. It is a sad day in America when even juries are so brainwashed by Big Pharma advertising and mainstream media propaganda that they believe refusing to drug your own teenage daughter is proof of poor parenting.

Judge Ronald Giles of Detroit’s 36th District Court is now due to rule on whether Godboldo should stand trial to face multiple felony charges that were leveled against her after she allegedly fired a gun in self defense when police smashed through her door and tried to kidnap her daughter at gunpoint (http://www.naturalnews.com/032091_M…).

Court Files Vindicate Detroit Mom In Stand Off With Police: She Had Legal Authority To Stop Daughter’s Drugging

Friday, April 22nd, 2011

Note from CCHR:  Court documents now vindicate  Maryanne Godboldo in having every legal right to stop administering her daughter an antipsychotic drug documented by international drug regulatory agencies to cause agitation, aggression, cardiac arrest, fatal  blood clots, liver failure, mania, suicide and violence yet this did not stop the state from ordering an assault on this woman in her own home, complete with Swat Teams and a tank.  There can be no doubt that Child Protective Services were in violation of every legal and civil right this mother has to protect her daughter from harm, not to mention her fundamental right as a parent.   We’re not sure why this isn’t being investigated as kidnapping case, because Maryanne Godboldo’s daughter was for all intents and purposes, kidnapped under the authority of Child Protective Services.   We,  as a society, must stand up to the use of force in what our co-founder, Dr. Thomas Szasz calls “The Therapeutic State,” the alliance between psychiatry and government in exerting social control over citizens.  This is not an isolated incident of parents being pressured, coerced, threatened to administer drugs to their child, via “child protective services” on behalf of “the state.”

“In the therapeutic state, treatment is contingent on, and justified by, the diagnosis of the patient’s illness and the physician’s prescription of the proper remedy for it… Today, the therapeutic state exercises authority and uses force in the name of health.  The Founding Fathers could not have anticipated…that an alliance between medicine and the state would then threaten personal liberty and responsibility exactly as they had been threatened by an alliance between church and state.” — Thomas Szasz (read more here http://qr.net/38D )

The Detroit News – April 22

by Doug Guthrie

Detroit — A mother accused of medical neglect for refusing to give her daughter a prescribed drug had authority to halt treatment, court files indicate.

The “informed consent” form signed by Maryanne Godboldo, who sparked a debate over parents’ rights when her daughter was removed from her care March 25, authorized her to give her daughter, Ariana, the antipsychotic drug Risperdal.

“It has been explained to me that I have the right to withdraw this consent at any time and can stop taking the medication at any time,” the form reads.

The agreement was signed June 3, 2010, by Godboldo and a psychiatrist associated with a children’s health organization that later complained to child welfare workers when Godboldo stopped giving her daughter the drug used in treatment of symptoms of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Lawyers for the 13-year-old’s mother and father will be in Wayne County Circuit Court Juvenile Division today attacking the validity of a petition obtained on a medical emergency claim by a county Child Protective Services worker to take the girl from her home by force March 25. Ariana has since been kept in a state facility for mentally ill juveniles.

The social worker’s efforts to take Ariana set off a 12-hour siege after armed police broke open a door at Godboldo’s west side home and a shot was fired. The 56-year-old mother and the girl’s father, Mubarak Hakim, 58, face neglect claims and attempts by state authorities to make the girl a ward of the court and possibly resumption of drug therapy. Godboldo also is charged separately with criminal assault and resisting and opposing the three Detroit Police officers who entered her home.

The case has drawn nationwide attention from groups advocating parents’ rights, concerns about the safety of childhood immunizations and use of psychotropic drugs, and those opposed to government intrusion on personal decisions.

Godboldo has said her daughter’s problems began in 2009, after she took a cocktail of immunizations to catch up with requirements to switch from homeschooling to a regular school environment. Godboldo, who believes her daughter’s problems are from encephalitis caused by a severe reaction to the immunizations, has said drug therapy worsened her daughter’s behavior. Godboldo has said she sought a “holistic’ alternative with the help of another doctor.

The form was signed by Dr. Rajendra Kanneganti, a psychiatrist associated with the Children’s Center of Wayne County. The treatment plan resulted from a mental health assessment of then 12-year-old Ariana after she was found by police wandering naked in her neighborhood last Memorial Day weekend.

The document, signed by the mother on behalf of her minor child, says, “I understand that I will not be forced to take this medication and that I can stop taking it at anytime. I also understand that discontinuation of prescribed medication without consultation with my doctor could cause my condition to worsen.”

“I think that document proves our case,” said Godboldo’s lawyer, Wanda Evans. “She understood she had a right to stop giving the medication. If you sign an informed consent that says you can stop, and you stop, you did the right thing, and CPS (Child Protective Services) is just being nasty.”

Kanneganti did not respond to a Detroit News telephone call.

A legal expert said the signed document might not carry much weight in court.

“In this case you do have these countervailing rights and obligations and they are difficult to assess,” said John Pirich, professor at Michigan State University College of Law. “But, in practice, a court usually looks first at the health, safety and welfare of the child.”

The News obtained access earlier this week to the previously withheld court file. The file was made available only after a lawyer for The News reminded officials that court files are open to the public under Michigan law.

The original petition to remove the child was obtained by case worker Mia Wenk, two weeks on the assignment, who expressed frustration with Godboldo’s lack of cooperation in her investigation of accusations of medical neglect from at least four sources, including the Children’s Center.

Evans said Godboldo consulted another doctor before weaning her daughter from the drug.

“Our intention is to begin an evidentiary hearing (today) on why the girl was removed from the home,” Evans said. “On what authority did they (Protective Services) act when it is a parent’s responsibility to make these decisions?”

Wayne County Child Protective Services workers last week filed an expanded explanation of claims. It quotes the clinical director of the facility where Ariana is being held, saying the girl, “may have a severe case of childhood onset schizophrenia, which would require medication for her to be treated properly.”

However, Assistant Attorney General David Law, representing Protective Services in court last week, said there was no current emergency need to medicate the girl.

Renowned human rights lawyer—Persecution of Chinese political dissidents under guise of psychiatric treatment increasing

Monday, May 31st, 2010

The Epoch Times
By Gao Zitan
May 30, 2010

Although Beijing has always denied charges of psychiatric abuse of dissidents, the National Conference of Ankang Asylums held by the Ministry of Public Security in Wuhan, Hubei Province, on May 26 and 27 has inadvertently admitted these charges.

Ankang Asylums are special psychiatric hospitals administered by the police. According to a document issued by the Ministry of Public Security on January 29, 1988, Ankang hospitals serve two functions: to maintain social order and to provide medical treatment. The document also points out that Ankang hospitals, as a special means of maintaining societal control, are an integral part of the public security services.

As of now, there are 22 Ankang hospitals in China, and the ministry has asked that at least one Ankang asylum be set up in each province, according to a report in state-run China Daily on May 29.

The recently-held National Conference pointed out that Ankang hospitals should play a more important role in social surveillance and control, and that they should work closely with public security bureaus, police stations, and criminal investigation units. It also stressed that Ankang hospitals should not admit anyone who is not mentally ill “without the approval of public security bureaus.”

People from mainland China read it as an indirect admission that Ankang hospitals can detain perfectly sane people as long as it is approved by the police. They comment that, in the past, police have incarcerated mentally healthy petitioners into psychiatric hospitals without a word. Now they send out a warning.

Persecution under cover

Zhang Ningzan, a renowned human rights lawyer told The Epoch Times that persecution, especially of political dissidents and petitioners under the guise of psychiatric treatment, occurs more often nowadays.

News broke on April 25 that a peasant named Xu Lindong from Henan Province was locked up in a mental hospital for six and a half years for supporting his neighbor Zhang Guizhi in a land dispute between Zhang and the township government. He was shackled 48 times and given electric shocks 54 times during his incarceration.

Ding Hongyun, deputy head of the Psychiatric Hospital of Luohe in Henan Province explained that Xu was incarcerated because of his insistence on visiting Beijing to lodge complaints against the local government, thereby disrupting social order, according to a China Youth Daily report.

Yangcheng Evening News reported on April 9 that Peng Baoquan and Deng Fuhua, two residents of Shiyan, a city in Hubei Province, were detained in a mental hospital because they took pictures of a protest.

According to Civil Rights and Livelihood Watch, on April 22, 2009, Pan Xiang, a citizen of Baoying County, Jiangsu Province, was kidnapped by local police and detained in a Yangzhou psychiatric hospital for nearly two months. Pan had asked the authorities to provide him with a letter allegedly written by Wen Jiabao in response to an earlier letter sent by Pan. He was forced to take medication, and as a result of an allergic reaction, developed edema in his legs.

Chinese political dissident tortured in psychiatric ward with 54 electroshock treatments spurs nationwide protests

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Spero News
By Asia News
April 30, 2010

Four officials of the district government of Luohe (Henan) were removed for having interned a petitioner in a psychiatric hospital for over 6 years.  Protests are growing in the country over local authorities systematic abuse of protesters.

Xu Lindong, the author of a petitioner from Daliu city has been interned in two psychiatric hospitals since October 2003. Xu began presenting petitions in 1997, both to local and central authorities. In 2003, dissatisfied with the response of local authorities, he decided to go to Beijing to petition. In response, local authorities had him forcibly repatriated, first sent him Zhumadian psychiatric hospital and later Luohe Psychiatric hospital, where was diagnosed with obsessive-ompulsive disorder and was subjected to 54 electroshock treatments.

Shi Hongtai and Yang Yaoqin, then secretary and deputy secretary of the Communist Party of Daliu, later promoted to higher positions, have been charged with his internment. It appears that they used false documents to have Xu interned.

The news has caused widespread protests and a campaign of online subscriptions, denouncing “the growing trend of regional authorities to restrict the freedom of citizens through similar measures [internment in psychiatric hospitals].”

Now the lawyer Boyang Chang, co-organizer of the signature campaign and family lawyer for Xu, has announced legal action against the Communist officials and hospital responsible for the illegal internment and is demanding compensation.

“Stop the Chinese Government’s Psychiatric Torture of Falun Gong Practitioners”

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

Canada Free Press
March 31, 2010

During the thirteen session of the UN Human Rights Council, the Falun Gong Human Rights Working Group, together with the Conscience Foundation, submitted a report on the Chinese government’s psychiatric torture of Falun Gong practitioners to various human rights mechanisms of the United Nations and to members of UN Human Rights Council.

China’s use of nerve-damaging chemicals to destroy Falun Gong practitioners’ capacity to hold thoughts and conscience has drawn the international community’s attention. As a result, organizations, agencies and individuals have made many helpful suggestions on how to stop such criminal acts. Based on the feedback we have received, FLGHRWG is launching a global initiative to work with world governments, agencies, and organizations to end the Chinese government’s mind-killing practices, and make those hospitals and individuals involved in psychiatric torture accountable for their crimes.

The global initiative includes the following actions:

  • Submit the report to governments, Interpol, medical associations, psychiatric associations and human rights organizations.
  • Submit the names of those doctors who have participated in the psychiatric torture of Falun Gong practitioners to governments and Interpol. These individuals should be arrested and prosecuted according to Article 5 of the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.
  • Provide governments with the names of the presidents of those hospitals that have taken part in the psychiatric torture of Falun Gong practitioners. These individuals should be denied visas for international travel.
  • Provide governments, Physicians’ Associations, and Psychiatrists’ Associations with the list of hospitals that have taken part in the psychiatric torture of Falun Gong practitioners. These hospitals should be banned from international academic exchanges, collaboration, or medical training.
  • Provide a list of hospitals and individuals to medical associations, psychiatrists associations, and medical journals of various countries. These institutions and individuals should be banned from publishing research articles.
  • Request that the international community closely monitor and control psychiatric drug exports to China.

Psychiatric Torture in China

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

Canada Free Press
October 1, 2009

In December 2008, the U.N. Commission against Torture reported on China’s overall human rights situation, its’ first report on China in 8 years. In the report, “the Committee also notes with concern that this provision has been misused to detain some people in psychiatric hospitals for reasons other than medical.”

After U.N. Special Rapporteur Prof. Manfred Nowak’s two week country visit to China at the end of 2005, the U.N. published a report on the country mission to China. The report states that torture occurred in Chinese mental hospitals in 8% of the cases submitted to the Special Rapporteur’s mandate over the 5-year period from 2000 to 2006.

Research indicates that cases of psychiatric “treatment” have spread to 23 out of 33 provinces under the direct leadership of the central government in China. At least 100 psychiatric facilities have been used in the effort to wipe out Falun Gong practitioner’s belief. Clearly, the abuse of psychiatric drugs on those who hold a different opinion from the government has been a well-planned, systematically carried out, top-down policy.

Daniel B. Borenstein, President of the American Psychiatric Association, published a letter in the New York Times on March 27, 2001, entitled “Jailed in China: Confront the Abuse.”
